No matter how much people try to distance such things as music and sports from politics, political issues inevitably creep in, as it happens with any other facet of life. And even the absence of an ideological stance can itself be considered a position in favour of the status quo. We know that about russians.

Similarly to the Ukrainian language, russians never wanted to acknowledge Ukrainian music and that is why most of their top hits never included any Ukrainian songs in the Ukrainian language.
Furthermore, they were also succeeding in conquering pop charts in Ukraine for a long time until the Revolution of Dignity in 2014 which led Ukraine to pass the laws to defend its own language in songs.

How Web3 Helped Ukraine’s Eurovision Winner Raise $900,000

Kalush Orchestra, the winners of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, auctioned off an NFT for charity. Bids were accepted in both cryptocurrency and fiat currency (via Monobank), thus creating a friendly competition for what type of currency can bring the most donations.

“Web3 allows to pool funds in unprecedented ways”, says Alona Shevchenko, co-founder of Ukraine DAO. The NFT of the Ukrainian flag, launched by Ukraine DAO, was auctioned off for $6.5 million in ETH, making it the 10th most expensive NFT ever sold.

“The last three months of war has shown how powerful and creative Web3 could be when it comes to fighting for human freedom”, adds Rev Miller, one of the founding partners of Unchain Fund. To date, Unchain raised around $10m in crypto across 15 different blockchains.
